The Inspirational Beginnings of Spencer & Cyndy Nordyke
From the vibrant streets of Grand Rapids, Michigan to the spiritual halls of Christ For The Nations Institute in Dallas, Spencer Nordyke’s journey began at a transformative crossroads of faith. At 17, after moving to Texas, Spencer experienced a profound spiritual awakening—being saved, baptized, and filled with the Holy Spirit, laying the groundwork for his lifelong devotion to ministry.
Parallel to Spencer’s journey, Cyndy Nordyke’s path was shaped by divine intentions. Born in Marshall, Texas, and raised near Houston, Cyndy’s spiritual journey took a leap during her high school years in Bossier City, Louisiana. After serving as a Baptist summer missionary in West Yellowstone, Montana, she returned to Dallas to attend Christ for the Nations Institute, setting the stage for her future ministry work.
Spencer and Cyndy’s paths converged in a Child Evangelism class, leading to their involvement in the Traveling Music & Drama Group, Glory Company. They were married right after a summer ministry tour in 1976, and began their ministry life together.
The Flourishing of Nordyke Ministries
In 1977, Spencer and Cyndy founded Nordyke Ministries, marking the beginning of decades of impactful ministry. They started in a modest church with just 50 members and helped nurture the congregation as it grew to a thriving community of over 8,000 people. Their commitment to youth and community outreach led them to develop evangelistic teams and organize significant events like Youth WAVE and youth meetings for Kenneth Copeland Believer’s Conventions.
Their expertise extended beyond organizing large-scale events; they pastored an independent youth church for a decade and were ordained through Eagle Mountain International Church, part of Kenneth Copeland Ministries, where they continue to find spiritual nourishment and community.
